About Grabers from Bavaria
For most of my life, my Graber history started with Francis Marion Graber, son of Sebastian Graber, the immigrant from Bavaria. The Graber family made a big impact on its descendants. Sometimes we forget that we are anything but Graber.

More recently, we have received new information that Sebastian's father's name was Andrew Kroeper (pronounced "cray-pur") and apparently Sebastian's name changed when he came to America. By any name, we love this family.

This site is also important to our Reed and Dahlgren family as well as Cushman and others. A special thanks to Kathy Graber, Gene Majors and Marvin Reed for sharing photos and lots of information.

IN TRIBUTE TO MARLOWE JOHN DAHLGREN, JR. 10 JUN 1926 - 7 May 1945

The following is an excerpt from a Neshoba website which can be found on my "Useful Links" below.

The invasion of Okinawa was set for April 1, 1945, Philippine time. Boats from the Neshoba were assigned to take in the first six waves of assault troops. The landings were virtually unopposed, no casualties were inflicted on the crew and upon completion of the unloading phase, the Neshoba returned to Pearl Harbor. The Neshoba was then ordered to take part in training maneuvers at Maui. During these practice runs the Neshoba achieved the remarkable record of lowering all her boats into the water in the record time of nine minutes.

It was during these maneuvers that Marlowe John Dahlgren Jr. lost his life.

God bless Marlowe, God bless us all.
